The statistics are startling.
In just three years, the first of nearly 80 million baby-boomers will become eligible to receive retirement benefits, and study after study has reached the same conclusion: only one-third of those boomers believe that they are financially prepared for a secure retirement. In fact, the average boomer has only saved about the equivalent of one year's paycheck.
In response to this growing challenge, Merrill Lynch has produced a white paper outlining 10 broad proposals aimed at helping to secure the future retirement of all Americans.
