In addition, we’ve aligned our interests with our clients as each of the advisors on our team is invested in the same portfolios alongside our clients. As active portfolio managers, our investment methodology has three foundational tenets. First, we are value investors. We believe that purchasing investments at a discount to their intrinsic value increases the probability of a successful outcome. Second, we are an all-asset, all-opportunity dynamic manager. Meaning, instead of rebalancing portfolios to a predetermined static asset allocation, we constantly evaluate investment opportunities across all asset classes (not just stocks and bonds) to build portfolios that have ever-changing investment exposures. Third, we are accountable to you. The only way to know if we’re achieving our goals is to measure the outcomes. Client Service: On a quarterly basis we invite our clients to review their portfolio with us and discuss its performance and events in their lives which may impact their finances. In addition, we strive to help our clients take advantage of the breadth of resources of Merrill Lynch to make their financial lives more organized, efficient, and streamlined. Planning: Our planning processes are designed to help our clients make thoughtful, intentional decisions about their resources and opportunities. We offer clients a comprehensive planning process to help them clearly define and prioritize their goals, identify and mitigate risks, and develop strategies to reach those goals with the resources they have. In addition we help clients answer specific questions about their financial lives - these questions may be about mortgages or other debt, stock options, when they should take Social Security, Roth IRA conversions, stretch IRAs, insurance coverage, estate planning, or any other area relating to decisions about money. Walter graduated from the University of Minnesota and received his Masters of Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management. He and his wife, Valerie, live in Minneapolis and have two adult sons and three grandchildren. Recognized by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal with its “Top 40 Under 40” Award in 2010, Hudie volunteers as a board member of the MacPhail Center for Music, and has served as board president for Clare Housing. Hudie graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in music and he and his wife, Sarah, now live in St. Paul with their two boys. In his free time, Hudie enjoys music, cooking, the Minnesota Twins, cycling, and snowboarding.Steve Farrell, CFAInvestment AssociateAs the team’s Director of Investment Operations, Steve leads the team’s research, trading and portfolio administration. David is a graduate of Saint John’s University and earned his MBA from Emory University. David lives in St. Paul with his wife, Molly, and their three children and enjoys coaching youth sports, traveling, and spending time outdoors. She first started with Merrill Lynch in 1985 and has been with the group since 2006.
