"If you can find a financial advisor who truly understands the demands and complexities of wealth—and is willing to be accessible around the clock—then sophisticated strategies can be put into motion."
Consider the financial decisions you've made in your life. Based on our experience, we think that most were probably meant to address your immediate needs. It's also possible that what may have seemed to be "good ideas at the time" may not have proved to be built for the long run.
At the Gurien Group, we look forward with you–to help you identify your personal aspirations and challenges. Applying our experience, the goals-based wealth management strategy we help you formulate places tremendous emphasis on understanding what we believe is a rapidly transforming world.
Some contend that the fast-growing middle class is the largest demographic wave ever witnessed. While spending power is bound to increase, they say, they believe that natural resources will likely be strained. Modern conveniences, medicine and technology will be needed, according to many, in every corner of the globe. So what are the potential opportunities, the pitfalls, and the implications for your financial life?
Utilizing the intellectual capital of Merrill Lynch and the top-ranked BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research*, we can help you make sense of change and seek to capitalize on it. Our strategic portfolio allocations are designed to help enhance the growth and preservation of your wealth–to bring what we hope will be enduring benefits to you and loved ones.
You deserve to have a holistic, real-world wealth management approach in place and a team of seasoned professionals in your corner. You also need to have an advisor who you believe has the capability to fully integrate and manage all the pieces of your financial life. Because when change is a virtual certainty, your strategy needs to be nimble.
"By devoting our time and effort to appreciating clients' circumstances and motivations, we are able to reach in many directions for ways to help them enthusiastically pursue individualized wealth management goals that are personally meaningful."
What's your "bus ticket?" We work with clients to determine what may be required – to help take them from where they are, to where they want to go. That's your "bus ticket."
Most clients identify their destination as a comfortable retirement. To help them get there, we help clients focus on making sound financial decisions designed to enhance the value of their personal "bus ticket" – whether they're ahead of schedule, or behind.
We also ask, "What brought you here?" Often, a previous advisor didn't offer consistent attention or communication. Other times, a specific challenge puts a new client in front of us. For an executive, concentrated stock may need to be balanced against other assets. A business owner may need advice on business decisions that he's counting on to help generate wealth that will serve as the foundation for retirement income.
At the Gurien Group, we tailor individual client portfolios, while monitoring three critical areas:
We enjoy serving people who can benefit from the value we provide. Each client has access to Adam Gurien, Managing Director—Wealth Management, whose acumen and leadership drive our robust delivery of multiple capabilities. In addition to coordinating with clients' attorneys and CPAs, we can address both sides of clients' balance sheets and often-neglected areas such as insurance.
"RETIREMENT is at the core of most clients' financial concerns, yet RETIREMENT was never at the core at most of their decision-making. That disconnect is where we can provide critical and lasting value."
Think about it: Your mortgage broker and insurance agent probably never considered your retirement. Yet, securing a comfortable (or extravagant) retirement may be your greatest financial priority.
Many clients don't believe they're "retirement-ready." They may be in peak earning years and focused on sending a child to college or the next career challenge. Regardless of your age, stage or level of wealth, having a well-conceived retirement strategy can be essential. Why? Because each financial decision you make can affect your retirement outcome.
At the Gurien Group, the retirement planning process is designed to help create a steady and reliable cash flow for when your career income stops. We begin with lots of conversations and discovery, during which we help you explore your personal preferences, financial goals and your lifetime cash flow requirements (given different scenarios). We also may discuss and examine rising health care costs, Medicare, supplemental plans, and present Social Security strategies that may help maximize benefits for you and your spouse–so that you don't "leave money on the table*."
Based on our discussions, we will carefully suggest a mix of investments designed to pursue your goals. We may also coordinate with your CPA and attorney – to align efforts for tax minimization and estate planning strategies. With decades of experience, we've seen and helped clients deal with many, if not all, of the challenges you face. It would be our intention to help you enjoy the retirement lifestyle and legacy you envision.

"Clients deserve the breadth and depth of the firm's financial resources. It's important that we develop an integrated strategy for each client that employs the appropriate blend of products and services – to satisfy their needs on both sides of their balance sheets."
"We have a deep understanding of medical professionals and leading institutions in the area. Our determination and ability to assist them has never been greater. We feel privileged to be a "go-to" resource for clients and their families – from investment and retirement planning, to exercising stock options, to college planning and wealth transfer considerations."
Over the years, The Gurien Group has come to serve many we call "New Jersey's most valuable citizens" – active and retired physicians, nurses, hospital administrators and others we admire for their personal dedication, as well as for their professional achievements.
Just as we bring ideas to the table, we encourage clients to do the same. We learn from them – about the latest advances in health care and technology, for example. Ours is an "ears-open" and "arms-open" approach. Beyond portfolios, we serve clients. And beyond clients, we serve families–whether we're educating children about wise financial habits or helping during difficult circumstances (an illness or the death of a loved one).
In addition to helping clients manage their investments, we help them prepare for retirement, liquidity events and exercising stock options. We also develop strategies for education funding or wealth transfer, with an eye toward tax minimization. Through Bank of America, N.A., we can provide access to specialists for securities-based and residential lending.
We believe years spent serving the specialized needs of medical professionals differentiates our group from most others. We hope that you would find value in having us work on your behalf and we would look forward to cultivating a relationship with you.
"Our talented professionals offer a modern, forward-thinking approach. We never forget that the quality of clients' lives – for years to come–can be affected by our actions on any given day. Each client matters to us."
